Beginning

My name is Honiwati. I am a housewife who has been living in Indonesia. I was born from creative genes, so I’m carrying on the tradition. I have been sewing for 30+ years. I do all of these things on a daily basis, or at least as much as I can.

I’m a freelancer. That means that I am my own boss and I work all the time. But I love it. 

First of all, this work start begin from my hobby, I was about to help an older cousin to sew some clothes when I was young. After while, when I was a teenagers, I've started to learn knitting and making clothes for my mom. Then when I have a family, I began to sew cross stitch in my spare time while waiting my children came back home from school and finished their extra tutor classes. 

When my children in a seniors highschool, this was the times when a "Sweet Seventeen parties and dinners". Party dresses were needed to come to those events, so my daughter started asking for money to buy some dresses. I think it is very wasteful to buy a party dress whenever they were invited to an event, so I say to my daughter "How about sewing your own gown rather than buy them?". Without knowing I unexpectedly have been sewing a gown for some close families and friends. 

After my children one by one starting to go out from home to pursue their college education, the busyness began to decrease, so I started to learn how to sew a quilt and leather. 

This is the story I started my career which is start from a hobby, I do not even think this can make me earn my salary.

What kind of things I usually made is original, which is mean it is all home made and it is all depend on customer's desire. 

Any stuffs I have been making are: handbags, wallets, pencil cases, clothes, and paper craft (name card design, invitation card, etc.)
